While we’re on the topic of being October already, guess what else that means?

By Korgan Hucent

It means it’s almost time to get down to SKYCITY Darwin for the one, the only Oktoberfest!  Always a laugh and always loads of fun, Oktoberfest is an event that must be experienced, to be believed.  If you thought you had to travel all the way to Germany to wear your lederhosen or Bavarian bar maid’s get up, think again!  You can do it all and so much more at Oktoberfest at SKYCITY Darwin.

It’s all going to be happening from Friday 14th October until Sunday 16th October at the Beachside Pavilion on the SKYCITY Lawns!  The pavilion quite literally will become a traditional Bavarian Beer Hall, complete with the sights, sounds and fun you’d associate with that.

The Friday frivolities commence from 5.30pm, whereas on Saturday and Sunday the fun kicks off from 12.30pm each day.  An all ages event up until 9pm, you can be a part of a German tradition that hails back some 200 or so years ago.

So what kind of fun are you in for when you rock up to Oktoberfest?  Here’s the low down:

  • Thigh slapping German dancing merriment, including loud yodelling (always a laugh!)
  • Beer stein strong arm competitions
  • Best dressed guys and girls competitions
  • Loads of Bratwurst, Weisswurst, Nurnberger, Sauerkraut, Apfelstrudel and lots of other German yummies
  • Imported German beer on tap – your choice of bottles or schnapps

A number of the team here at Ray White Bayside – who shall remain unnamed – have experienced the Bavarian fun that is Oktoberfest, and yes, it is highly recommended!  Gather your friends and head out for a fabulous experience and who knows?  You may just end up having a memorable experience, for all the right reasons for your 2016!

No need to book either – just turn up and follow the costumed people who look like they’re having loads of fun!  Plenty of opportunities for fun and of course, selfies, so save the date!
