Play cricket at the Cullen Bay sandbar and get behind the great cause that is Variety!

By Korgan Hucent
It’s hard to believe but it’s that time of the year when crowds get together for Darwin’s biggest community cricket event, the annual Darwin Trailer Boat Club vs Variety NT Sandbar Cricket Match! A few of the team here at Ray White Bayside have come along and had fun at this event over the years, and it’s always a guaranteed laugh and good time, with all funds raised on the day going to the wonderful cause that is Variety NT, the Children’s Charity.
This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday 18th September, and it will start at 10.30am and finish at 4.30pm. Just like the years gone by, the fun will be unfolding at the Sandbar off Cullen Bay.
To get there, for a $10 donation (all proceeds going to Variety NT) a ferry service will run from Cullen Bay Ferry Terminal. Kids can ride for free! The ferry will depart from Cullen Bay at 10.30am and return from the Sandbar at 2pm. Alternatively if you have your own boat, you can sail or power your way there yourself!
Drinks and refreshments will be available on the day and again, all proceeds will go directly to Variety NT, the Children’s Charity.
So come along and be a part of the fun, or if you’re not really into running around and participating in the game, simply watch and have a laugh with the new friends you’re sure to meet! There will be raffles run on the day as well, and Hot 100 and Kev.i.n’s Mobile Disco will create an absolutely fantastic party atmosphere right there on the beach. Portaloo facilities will also be provided on the day.
