Yiamas! It’s Greek Glenti weekend!

By Korgan Hucent

We all have a Greek friend here in the Top End!  That’s because we are so lucky to have a huge thriving Greek community here in Darwin and Glenti is a highlight of the Dry Season for them, and non-Greeks alike! On the long weekend, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June, Bicentennial Park down at the Esplanade will be transformed into the Mediterranean once again for the vibrant annual festival!

And if you’ve been before, you’ll be back this year!  If you’ve never been before, then you’ll just have to experience the magic and fun it is for yourself!

Glenti is a fantastic opportunity for the Greek community here in Australia to share their culture and pass on their traditions. They will host a full weekend of traditional music and dancing, authentic cuisine, and how about a little plate smashing too? Sounds like fun to us! The Ray White Bayside team will definitely be heading down!

Of course, there will be heaps of yummy food available. From octopus and souvla, to a delicious baklava or everyone’s favourite – honey balls! Prepare to feast at affordable prices! Cooking demos will be happening throughout the day too, should you ever want to get your Greek on in the kitchen at home.  Imagine that!

So, head down to Bicentennial Park on the Queen’s Birthday weekend to soak up the Greek culture with fantastic food, wine, music, dance and amazing shows. And in true Greek style, the Glenti will run all day – from 10am until midnight both days! The Greeks don’t do early nights and a lot of Darwin sure get in on this action too!

The event is suited for all ages and entry is absolutely free! Please visit https://www.facebook.com/glenti.com.au/ for more info and we’ll see you guys at Glenti!
