It’s a conversation topic that comes up on what seems like an ever frequent basis: school holidays! And they’re almost here again in October and no doubt, parents all over Darwin are wondering what they’ll do to keep the kids happy and entertained. Well, City of Darwin has come to the rescue with its engaging and enthusiastic, ‘Fun in the Parks’ school holiday line up!
So, what is ‘Fun in the Parks’? Basically it’s an initiative of the City of Darwin, providing free activities for primary school aged children. In quite a few parks around town, there will be loads of activities, cold drinking water and sunscreen – all provided by Council to keep the boredom and the possible associated parental anguish at bay!
Parents and carers are invited to attend and be a part of these activities with the children because quite simply, the more, the merrier!
The activities will be taking place at the following parks around town:
- Wanguri Park (Wanguri Terrace, Wanguri) – Monday 3rd October
From 10am until 12.30pm, there will be a fun and creative Mosaic Workshop with Janie Andrews. Kids can really test their creativity skills at what’s sure to be an amazing experience! - Aviators Park (Fannie Bay Place, Fannie Bay – just opposite the shops) – Wednesday 5th October
From 10am until 1pm, come and be a part of Fannie Bay Supermarket Celebrates! The store has been serving the community for 30 years, so get involved and celebrate this fabulous milestone with fun, games and lots of excitement! - George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens (Gardens Road, The Gardens) – Friday 7th October
From 10am until 1pm, come and be a part of, “Healthy Holiday Fun”. Sure to be a learning experience that is also heaps of fun!
Be sure to check out one or all of the events and help keep the kids happy and entertained this school holidays!
