Time to Get Arty with the Darwin Fringe Festival!

By Korgan Hucent

An exciting annual event, the Darwin Fringe Festival is a 10-day arts festival with the objective of promoting and supporting local artists!  From theatre, cabaret and visual art, through to music, comedy and dance, there are shows and workshops – as well as plenty of networking opportunities – for those who love the arts and want to be a part of this exciting local scene.

The festival this year will run from Friday 15th July until Sunday 24th July and here’s a sneak peak of just some of the fabulous line-up you can check out for yourself:

  • Opening Night (Friday 15th July at 8pm): Come and be a part of the party atmosphere at Brown’s Mart Courtyard, and enjoy the performances and special appearances!  Scheduled to perform at the Opening Night will be Culture Connect, Room 105 and Fish Slappa.  There will even be some surprise performances that you’re sure to love.  Entry cost is $20 and concession tickets are $15.
  • Arty Party (Saturday 16th July at 7pm): This is where you go if you have a creative idea and you’re looking for advice or even some collaboration partners!  This is arts networking at its best, and you never know – you may just meet your next project partner here!  Pitch your idea, make contacts or just get inspired.  It’s all happening at Brown’s Mart Courtyard and entry is free!
  • Mr Snot Bottom’s Stinky Silly Show (Show – Wednesday 20th – Friday 22nd July at 11am and Workshop Thursday 21st July 2pm): It’s comedy for kids aged 4-10 years of age and the topic of the laughter: boogers and the funny sounds our bodies make!  In addition to the show, there will be a comedy workshop hosted by Mr Snot Bottom, for kids aged 7+.  Shows and workshop will be held at Brown’s Mart Theatre, with show entry fees priced at $15 per person or $50 per family.  The workshop entry fee is $12 per child.

Of course, there’s loads more in the exciting line-up for this year’s Darwin Fringe Festival, so to find out more, visit the full program here: https://issuu.com/georgiac.hewett/docs/fringefestival2016finalweb_4e288f571705d2?e=4221963/36518494.
