When we think of Darwin, we think of our laid back and relaxed tropical city where winter is one of those foreign concepts, endured and barely enjoyed by our southern cousins. We don’t associate Darwin with world-class tennis, or at least we haven’t… until now! That’s because Darwin is hosting the Davis Cup Quarterfinal against Kazakhstan from the 17-19 July at the Marrara Sports Complex.
It’s a big thing for Darwin, because we have never hosted a major tennis event like this before! Not according to the trusty research undertaken by our team here at Ray White Bayside real estate. In March, Chief Minister Giles heralded news of Darwin hosting the Davis Cup Quarterfinals as being, “huge” for the Territory and it is sure to help us showcase our excellent sporting facilities – not to mention our enviable lifestyle and tourism charm!
Hosting the event will also result in the Territory getting more support to grow its grassroots programs and encourage more people to get involved in the sport.
In preparation for this massive tennis event, attracting a worldwide audience well into the millions, a purpose-built grass stadium court and two practice courts have been built. With weather conditions expected to be perfect – as expected at this time of the year here in Darwin – the Quarterfinals in Darwin will provide our Australian players with their best chances yet of advancing to play the quarter-final winners – either France or Britain.
So for such a huge event coming to Darwin, are there any tickets left? Well the great news is: yes! You can check out the various ticket options now by visiting: http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=DAVISCUP&view=AO
