One really great reason to head out to Palmerston on Fridays during the Dry Season – The Palmerston Markets!

Let’s face it: who doesn’t LOVE a market?  Up here in our tropical city, markets are huge and a business in themselves, with locals and visitors alike flocking to a multitude of markets on weekends.  Renowned for fresh produce and great local arts and crafts, Darwin is officially in love with markets!  What some of you may or may not know, is that the Palmerston Markets, held every Friday night from April until October in Goyder Square, has been running for 29 years!

Every Friday experience an array of live entertainment, showcasing virtually every musical genre you can think of, whilst you browse through more than 140 stalls.  You can sample cuisines from around the world and see for yourself how people from a variety of cultural backgrounds can come together and really create a special occasion!  You’ve just got to love the multicultural ambience of this place!

You’ll find everything from hot and cold food, drinks and desserts, through to fresh fruit and vegetables, arts, crafts, kid’s rides, jewellery and novelty items.  Body massages are also available if you feel you can really do with some TLC and chillout time!

There are also entertainers performing shows for the children, with plenty of prizes up for grabs too!

Known for its relaxed and laid back atmosphere, the Palmerston Markets make for an enjoyable evening for the whole family, and like any market, you may just be surprised with the treasures you find!

So, be sure to check out the Palmerston Markets, held from 5pm until 9pm every Friday during the Dry Season!  It may just become one of your regular weekend activities, and what better way to start the weekend than at a market?!
