On Wednesday 13th September 1917, a “Concert and Dance” was held at the RSL to raise funds to form a branch of The Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League of Australia in Darwin. A whole century later, Darwin RSL still remains an iconic Darwin location for former and current Defence force members and their families, and they want to celebrate in style with a week of commemorative events.
The week of events will begin with a church service on Wednesday 13th September at the Christ Church Cathedral Darwin at 3.30pm. A two-hour cocktail party will follow in the evening, commencing at 5pm at the Darwin RSL for current and past guests, and their family and friends. Then the big event and formal dinner will be held on Saturday 16th September at SKYCITY Darwin.
The evening will commence at 6.30pm with pre-dinner drinks, followed by a three-course meal and a five-hour free drinks package – sounds good to the Ray White Bayside team! Not only that, you will be in for a night full of entertainment and guest speakers too. Being a formal event, a dress code does apply, “Territory Formal” to be precise. That means a dinner suit or tux for the gents and evening wear for the ladies.
Tickets cost is $185 for the formal dinner and you can get them from https://www.ivvy.com.au/event/RSL17/. More information on the other events is available on the website too! So, get your glad rags on and join us for a celebratory night with delicious food and drinks. Happy century Darwin RSL! And here’s to many more years of serving and supporting returned servicemen and women!
