Another event proudly bought to you by the Darwin Festival, STREETcurrents is the name of the exhibition that will totally transform the iconic tropical Big Top! It’s all happening at the Lighthouse in Festival Park in the city and you’ll be amazed to see this stunning transformation.
It’s all happening on the Festival’s opening week, and as part of STREETcurrents at the Lighthouse, you’ll see three amazing street artists at work, actively collaborating on a brand new mural to cover the whole exterior of this entertainment hub. You can see it all literally unfolding right before your eyes!
STREETcurrents is a new project which will bring together street artists from Australia and Indonesia, and these guys are going to be creating new collaborative artworks across the Top End. The artists involved in this ground breaking project are:
- David Collins (aka Uncle): David is based right here in Darwin and he focuses on pop culture and NT-specific political issues
- Jesse Bell: another incredibly talented local Darwin street artist
- Rolly Bandhiryo (aka Love Hate Love) from Yogyakarta
- Yunanto (aka Getlups) from Yogyakarta
The team will work together for a month-long Darwin residency, and during this time will create amazing works in collaboration with other local artists, arts centres, schools and community centres to create amazingly bold mural works.
So come along and see these guys in action and be inspired! STREETcurrents at the Lighthouse will be running during the following times:
- Wednesday 4th August 8.30am – 12.30pm
- Saturday 6th August 8.30am – 12.30pm
- Sunday 7th August 8.30am – 12.30pm
