Well, there’s no such thing as too much fun to keep the kids entertained, when it comes to school holidays! And in true City of Darwin Libraries’ style, the fabulous team have just released their school holiday program. It’s sure to delight the kids and that’s definitely going to be the case for the parents as well!
From Monday 10th April to Thursday 13th April, the libraries across the Darwin suburbs will be hosting activities for the kiddies each afternoon. To celebrate the Dry that’s well and truly on its way, local artist Janie Andrews will be coming along to show kids how to create beautiful jewelled dragonflies (our favourites), in arts and crafts session, ‘Beads and the Beasties’.
And no, that’s not The Beastie Boys! So fellow colleagues in the office here at Ray White Bayside and Beastie Boy fans, you’ll just have to keep listening to your favourite tracks on iTunes!
The creative sessions will begin at 2.30pm each day and end at 4pm. Monday 10th will take place at City Library, Tuesday 11th at Karama Library, Wednesday 12th at Nightcliff Library, and Thursday 13th at Casuarina Library. Think of it as beads on tour! Bookings are required for these sessions and are only suitable for kids aged 5+.
City of Darwin Libraries will also be playing movies on the big screen! Disney favourite, Moana, the tale about a spirited teen who sets off on an adventure to fulfil her ancestors’ unfinished requests, will be played each day. And Trolls, the story of Poppy and Branch embarking on an adventure to save their friends, is also scheduled. You are urged to BYO beanbags too so the kids (and you) can get extra comfy.
As usual, the program is absolutely free – you needn’t spend a cent! For more information and a copy of the program, visit http://www.darwin.nt.gov.au/libraries .
