If you see an artillery gun being pushed along the road on Saturday 3rd September, do not panic!

By Korgan Hucent

It’s all part of the fabulous charity event, “Gunner Bear Gun Push 2016” being held by the soldiers of the 8th/12th Regiment who will be pushing an artillery gun 20km from the City to Royal Darwin Hospital on Saturday 3rd September.  The Artillery Gun Push, aims to raise $45,000 for the Children’s Ward!  Every day the dedicated team do great work for kids all around the Northern Territory, but funds are needed for vital medical equipment to ensure the best care for kids.

Already according to the online donation collection tally, the event has raised almost $23,000, so the team here at Ray White Bayside are pretty sure Gunner Bear is gunna do this!

It’s all kicking off at the Darwin Cenotaph at 7am sharp, so make sure you’re up early enough to cheer the team on as they really push their metal – quite literally – for a fabulous cause.

Gunner Bear himself will be there at the start of the event, and of course, at the destination at Royal Darwin Hospital when the guys and girls cross the finish line, at around 2pm or so.  In between the start and finish, you’ll see him riding on the actual gun as it’s pushed the 20km course!  Give him a wave if you see him, and don’t forget to donate.  You’ll also find plenty of personnel on hand collecting valuable donations.

And if you can’t get out to see Gunner Bear for yourself this Saturday, you can donate online!  Just visit: https://chuffed.org/project/gunner-bear-2016.

Gunner Bear has been really busy championing great fundraising causes for the Australian Army, and he’s actually been involved since the 1980’s when the first Gunner Bear events started in Sydney.  So successful have these events been, that Gunner Bear and his doppelgangers have been spearheading events all over the country to support Children’s Hospitals and Paediatric Departments.

So get on board with Gunner Bear today and help The Children’s Ward at Royal Darwin Hospital acquire the critical medical equipment required to deliver the best medical care for the kids of Darwin and the NT!
