So, the wet season is officially here! It’s rained and it’s poured pretty much non-stop for the past fortnight, so what fun could we possibly get up to when the weather is like this? Well a few of us here at Ray White Bayside Real Estate have already commented on our ‘cabin fever’ from the weekend, so we’re already looking forward to this one to get out and pay our local museum and art gallery a visit – MAGNT!
MAGNT is committed to providing a range of public programs to involve and engage the community. There’s plenty of fun for the kids, including turtle and fish feeding (that sounds fun to us!), and on one Sunday a month, artists and education specialists get together to deliver an art workshop too. The youngsters get to paint, draw and have fun learning about art.
Don’t worry though adults, because they’ve got you covered too! While the kids are having fun, you guys can visit one of the many exhibitions, have a leisurely swan around the museum – taking it all in at your own pace! Alternatively, you can attend an open floor talk. That way you can learn directly from the artist or curator about the artworks or shows.
There’s a cool exhibition on at the moment actually – HOT! They got that right hey?! The exhibition explores various things assigned to the word ‘hot’. Displaying highlights from the MAGNT Australian art collection by some of the Territory’s most popular artists, including Tom Roberts and Emily Kam Kngwarray. You can view this for the best part of the year too, until August.
