Yes! There is such thing as FREE water fun here in Darwin!

By Korgan Hucent

It’s called the Palmerston Water Park, and it’s just a short 20 minute or so drive up the Stuart Highway from the Darwin CBD!  Palmerston Water Park is owned by the NT Government and operated by YMCA Top End and boasts clean and state-of-the-art facilities.  You can literally spend the day at this place, as quite a few of our team here at Ray White Bayside can testify to!  There are two wet play areas and a giant racer slide, along the lines of what you’d see at any Gold Coast theme park.  The best part though?  It’s totally free!  That’s right, 100% free.  Just turn up and you’re good to go!

In addition to the water slides and fun areas, there’s also BBQ and picnic facilities, a kiosk and even a skate park.  And during the school holidays, the YMCA up the level of excitement at the park with clowns, mobile discos, face painting and even jumping castles.  Kids would have a ball if you decided to take them every day if you so choose over the school holidays!

The facilities cater for all ages, from toddlers through to adults, so nobody misses out!

There are a number of classes run at the facility as well, such as the Mum & Bub Fitness Class – again a great free service!  There are also catering services offered by the kiosk and an air-conditioned room on site for corporate functions and birthday parties.  The facility is a huge hit with families seeking a venue for birthday parties, so be sure to check it out if you’ve been tasked with organising a party!

The park is closed most public holidays, except for Australia Day, Easter Monday and on Anzac Day, it is open after 1pm.
