With Seven Days until Darwin’s Relay For Life and There’s Still Time to Register!

By Korgan Hucent
With so many people in Australia impacted every year by cancer, the Relay For Life fundraiser for 2015 is geared to be a huge success.  The event hosted by the Australian Cancer Council, raises valuable funds to help save lives, and it’s a great way to honour and remember those we have lost to cancer and celebrate the victories of those who have beaten the disease.
This overnight event kicks off at The Gardens Oval on Friday 18th September at 6pm and runs until 9am Saturday 19th September and concludes a very big year of fundraising, that each relay team of 10-15 has engaged in.  The teams participate in a relay-style walk or run, and encourage each other to stay on track for the evening.
While the event is happening, you can come along and stay for the whole night, even camping for the evening if you wish!  There will be a great line up of fun activities and moving ceremonies that really create a special event for all involved.
If you haven’t registered yet, that’s okay!  You can actually turn up on the opening night and register at the registration table, and then join an existing team!  Your registration fee will cover the Relay For Life shirt and free breakfast.
Similarly, you don’t even need to be a part of a team, and just come as a visitor.  All the organisers of the event ask for is a gold coin donation to help raise vital funds to continue the work of the Australian Council Council.
