Suburb Spotlight:  Cullen Bay

By Korgan Hucent

Choosing a suburb to live in, whether you are looking to buy or rent can be quite a daunting prospect – particularly if you are relocating from interstate or overseas.  Thankfully though, by getting in touch with local experts such as our team here at Ray White Bayside, you can get first-hand knowledge on the suburbs to consider and those to avoid.  Over the next few weeks, we will highlight just some of the many great areas of Darwin you may like to consider living in next!

This week, our focus is on Cullen Bay, conveniently located just 2km from the Darwin CBD.  A marina estate located within Larrakeyah, Cullen Bay was constructed in the early 1990’s and offers an array of attractive housing options, from practical and well-designed apartments, to luxurious executive homes.  The suburb is home to every day working families, as well as the more affluent, but one thing is for sure: Cullen Bay is laid back, friendly and it knows how to do hospitality!

Home to a variety of popular bars and restaurants, Cullen Bay is a hive of activity, particularly on weekends.  On a Friday night, you will find plenty of people enjoying the sunsets on the lawn while tucking into some of the famous fish and chips on offer by La Beach – tasty choices for a reasonable price!  Well worth checking out!

If pizza and Italian are more your thing, wander up the road to Eat-A-Pizza, or if you fancy some seafood, try Seafood on Cullen. Another really popular restaurant to explore is Yots Greek Taverna.  In fact, we could talk all day about each café, restaurant and bar located in Cullen Bay, but you’d be best to check it out for yourself!  A great place to start is Trip Advisor, and the link for Cullen Bay is here:  https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/RestaurantsNear-g255066-d456451-Cullen_Bay_Serviced_Apartments-Darwin_Top_End_Northern_Territory.html.

Cullen Bay is also where you can catch a ferry to visit Mandorah – another beautiful part of Darwin, well worth taking a picnic lunch to and exploring!

With its close proximity to the city, Cullen Bay is a great choice for individuals, couples and families alike, and there are an array of great schools to choose from, including Larrakeyah Primary School, Darwin High School and Middle School, and Stuart Park Primary School.  You are also closely located to St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in the city.

For more information on available properties for sale and rent in Cullen Bay, do not hesitate to contact the Ray White Bayside team!
