Run a mile for a million on Sunday 17th September!

By Korgan Hucent

The Mitchell Street Mile is back for another year but this year it has a brand-new name, ‘The Lottoland Mitchell Street Million Dollar Mile’.  Sure, it’s a bit of a mouthful, but it’s sure to be an incredibly amazing event, as it always is!

This year, the invitation is out for all running enthusiasts, locals and visitors of the Top End to be part of a brand new and unique sporting event. Fancy yourself $1 million? Of course you do – don’t think there’d be any of us willing to knock one back! Well, Lottoland is offering the crazy prize to any athlete who can break the male or female current track record during the newly re-named run! We’re already in training here at the Ray White Bayside office and hope one of us will be fortunate enough to snag a cool million!  We’re not terribly hopeful, but as the saying goes: you’ve got to be in it to win it!

The course is measured exactly 1 mile (1.6km), slap bang in the heart of the colourful CBD, and on Sunday 17th September, the streets will be closed to make way for the thousands of entrants and spectators. Running events will commence at 3.30pm and a Cycling Criterium beginning at 1.30pm on the same route, if you fancy catching that too!

The event will end at 6.30pm, so prepare for a full afternoon of cheer and a buzzing atmosphere, Darwin style! With plenty of racing categories, whether you’re the next Usain Bolt, or just up for fun community run, there is a run for everyone! And should you choose to partake in the mile, please remember that it will be a little warm so be sure to wear a hat, sunscreen and bring along some extra water.

To register for the run and view the categories, please visit http://www.mitchellstreetmile.com.au/event-details/race-categories/. And who knows, you could be bagging yourself $1 million!! Good luck, guys!
