Register now for Walk to work day Friday the 13th of November to support Diabetes Australia!

By Korgan Hucent

I would think most of you know that here in Australia we’re obsessed with our cars and driving pretty much everywhere. It’s definitely the case here in Darwin, but the reality is, nothing is really that far away in our tropical city and we probably waste loads of fuel, when at times we can simply walk!

Walking helps improve overall health and wellbeing, and as you know, it also helps the environment. On Friday 13th November though, by walking, you’ll not only help yourself and our planet, but you’ll also help raise awareness and much needed funds for Diabetes Australia. That’s because on Friday 13th November, it’s Diabetes Australia Walk to Work Day.

This year, the event also boasts a customised app, which you can download to your smartphone. The app allows you to map out and evaluate your walks. All you need to do is set goals, start fundraising and get your mates and colleagues to get on board with this very worthwhile cause and start raising money and awareness, whilst getting fit and healthy at the same time.
People who walk to work or during work are less likely to get sick or be absent from work, and it’s believed walking can also help you to be more productive and focused in the workplace.
If you are an organisation, why not get your whole office participating? You may just see improvements in productivity and a reduction in sick days!

Here at Ray White Bayside real estate, we love helping to raise money and create awareness on such worthy causes, so if you’re looking for a way to make a difference, this could be it.

Registrations are still open but the countdown is on, so head on over to the website at www.walk.com.au/wtw/homepage.asp for everything else you need to know about the walk to work event.
