January means it’s almost time for the eagerly anticipated Australia Day Ute Run!

By Korgan Hucent

Despite the sweltering heat and humidity, it never stops us Territorians from celebrating our national day in style! It’s time for hundreds of ute enthusiasts to gather for the 15th annual event to raise money for the charity, Variety NT.

Ute lovers of all ages will gather at the Hidden Valley Raceway on the morning of Australia Day and wind their way through the streets of Darwin, entertaining thousands of spectators! Some of the team here at Ray White Bayside Real Estate will be joining in the fun and taking part in the parade, while the rest of us will be going along to enjoy the day.

As always, the utes are expected to be decorated to the nines in colourful displays of Australian flags. And if last year is anything to go by, no doubt we will see some guys go all out, with cool things such as giant streamers and even pools installed in their utes!  The creativity on display will amaze and delight!

The event, hosted by Hot 100 and the Classic Holden Car Club, will begin at Hidden Valley Raceway where gates open at 8.30am. Entry into the event is just $20 per vehicle and the first 100 utes through the gates will get onto the starting grid of the track. Don’t worry though, all utes through the gate can participate in the ute run, which will depart at 10.30am and head towards Darwin Showground.

So, get your utes prepared for a fantastic day of community fun, or just head down to Darwin Showground and join in with the celebrations! There will be lots of entertainment on offer, including live music, a waterslide, food and even a licenced bar – it is a day of celebration after all!
