It’s School Holiday Time…So How to Keep the Kids Entertained?

By Korgan Hucent

If you’re anything like the parents who form part of our friendly team here at Ray White Bayside, you’ll understand exactly how fun school holidays can be for families.  On the flip side, we also know how bored kids can be.  We all experience the frustration of a child losing it over an iPad going flat or something not going right!  So, how can you keep the kids entertained, and your sanity intact for this school holiday period?

Thankfully, around Darwin, there are a few fun activities that tick all the boxes, and here they are:

  • City of Darwin Libraries School Holiday Program: The teams at each of our libraries know exactly how to have fun, and with a range of activities, from Tech Zone and Christmas Craft, to Christmas Bedtime Stories and Movies, there’s something for children of all ages.  Bookings for some activities are essential, and you can access all the details by visiting: https://www.darwin.nt.gov.au/community/libraries/kids-and-teens/school-holidays
  • January School Holiday Activities at the Darwin Waterfront: It’s the hive of activity in the Darwin CBD for people young and old, and from Monday 8th January to Thursday 25th January from 10am until 12 noon, there will be free and fun activities, including a magic workshop, waterslides, bubble sports, sailing and surf lifesaving in the Recreation Lagoon, balloon twisting sand art, a kids disco, AFLNT Auskick and come ‘n’ try hockey.  You can find out more by visiting: http://www.waterfront.nt.gov.au/events/
  • Museum and Art Gallery Northern Territory School Holiday Program: There are always interesting school holiday programs hosted at this intriguing venue here in Darwin, so be sure to check out the website at magnt.net.au or pop down to the museum for yourself to check it out!

And of course, there are always the great attractions such as Crocosaurus Cove, Territory Wildlife Park, Crocodylus and the Darwin Military Museum that are all well worth a look.  Not to mention, the many free swimming pools and water parks around Darwin.  Plenty to keep the kids and yourself occupied during this holiday season!
