Have some fun with Mum this Mother’s Day at any one of the exciting events planned this year!

By Korgan Hucent
This year Mother’s Day is Sunday 8th May, and already in the office here at Ray White Bayside real estate, the team are trying to come up with great gift ideas our mums would really love. What’s always a winner on Mother’s Day are experiences – things the whole family can do and have a whole heap of fun doing in the process. The line-up for Mother’s Day in Darwin this year looks to be pretty diverse as well, and mums who love reading, walking, running or craft are in for some great times this year.
• Saltwater Craft Fair: Kicking off on Sunday 8th May from 9am until 1pm at the Darwin Waterfront, the first Tactile Arts Craft Fair for 2016 will feature for sale a plethora of textiles, jewellery, ceramics, clothing, homewards, macramé, paintings, candles and loads more! Head down to the Waterfront to check out the market, and treat mum to morning tea or maybe even lunch at any one of the amazing cafes and restaurants the Waterfront is so popular for! You can find out more about the fair by visiting www.tactilearts.org.au.
• Mother’s Day Classic: If mum loves to stay fit and active, then why not be part of the 4-8km walk or run that is the Mother’s Day Classic? Held at Mindil Beach, the event starts from 7am, with walkers paying $35 for entry ($25 for concessions) and $40 for runners (or $30 for concessions). The event raises invaluable funds for breast cancer research and after completing the walk or run, you can enjoy heaps of fun at the BBQ afterwards. You can check out more details at www.mothersdayclassic.com.au.
• Mother’s Day Brunch with Richard Glover: The ABC’s much loved broadcaster Richard Glover discusses his most recent book, “Flesh Wounds, A Memoir” as part of the NT Writer’s Festival. Commending at 10.30am until 12.30pm at Treetops Restaurant, Richard will tell the story of his delusional, snobby mum, his distant alcoholic father and himself – a confused teenager, trying to find a family he could belong to. The cost for this exciting and intimate literary event is $55 or if you’re an NT Writer’s Member, just $50. You can find out more by visiting www.ntwriters.com.au.
Remember too there are plenty of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy quality time with your mum, but be sure to book because chances are quite a few people in and around Darwin will have the same brilliant idea come Sunday 8th May!
