Get involved in Clean Up Australia Day!

By Korgan Hucent

On Sunday 5th March, the country will get together to clean up the streets of Australia.

It all started back in 1989 when your average Australian bloke, Ian from Sydney, decided he wanted to clean up his own back yard…Sydney Harbour! 40,000 Sydneysiders donated their time and energy to clean up the Harbour back in 1989 and since then, this simple idea has now become the nation’s largest community-based environmental event!

In the past 28 years, Australians have devoted more than 31 million hours to Clean Up Australia Day and collected a whopping 331,000 tonnes of rubbish! There’s that amazing Australian Spirit again!

So, how can you get involved in this?

It’s pretty simple really! You can get your friends and family together and choose an area of the Top End you would like to tidy up. The Ray White Bayside Real Estate team will be putting our heads together to decide on an area which needs our help most.  We know of at least a handful of clients who are also thinking along the same lines!

Then you simply go online and register a Clean Up Site, or you can join an existing Site as a volunteer. You can register as an individual, a team, a business, a community group or a school. This is our chance to save the environment and keep our beautiful country beautiful!
