Film buffs unite! The Darwin International Film Festival is almost here!

By Korgan Hucent
That’s right, it’s that time of year when the latest international films are screened right here at the iconic Deckchair Cinema over eleven nights and days from the 15-25 September. The Darwin International Film Festival, or DIFF as some may refer to it by, is bought to us all by the Darwin Film Society (DFS). Since 1974 the society has been bringing alternative film experiences to audiences right here in Darwin, and this year’s festival is going to be a cracker!
Taking place at the Deckchair Cinema, you’ll enjoy quirky and creative films and also documentaries under the stars by the harbour! It’s a great place for you to just relax and be taken for a cinematic ride. As part of the festival, there will also be a series of exciting workshops and special events across the city.
The festival supports the local film industry and DIFF 2016 will see the launch of the very first annual Capricornia Film Awards, which will celebrate and showcase the best new works produced in the local region.
In addition to the film screenings, DIFF will bring guest filmmakers to our tropical city and they will share skills and encourage the local screen industry through the amazing CINEMART workshop program.
A fantastic line-up of films and the full program can be accessed right here at: http://www.darwinfilmfest.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/DIFF_DL-Program_Portrait_5-4_WEB.pdf and you can learn more about the event itself by visiting: http://www.darwinfilmfest.com.au/. Tickets are $16 per adult, $12 concession and $8 for children, and you can book your tickets via the event website.
