Fancy a Tasty Meal with a Club Atmosphere…or Perhaps some Barefoot Bowls?

By Korgan Hucent

If that sounds like you, then you need to check out Darwin Bowls and Social Club, which is one of the Territory’s oldest bowls clubs.  It’s located not far from our office here at Ray White Bayside, in Fannie Bay at 8 Conacher Street, just up the road from the Museum and Art Gallery.

Formed in 1959, the club prides itself on friendly, ‘Old Darwin’ ambience and hospitality and both the clubhouse and greens were survivors of Cyclone Tracy way back in 1974.  Since the olden days, the club has had major renovations and two turf greens, but the friendly service is still second to none.
The Club welcomes visitors to try their hand at lawn bowls, and even barefoot bowling as scheduled.  The bistro as well has recently introduced a brand new menu that quite a few of us here at our office can really vouch for.
Over the years as well, the club has earnt a reputation as a function centre which caters to all sorts of gatherings, from small intimate functions to big parties.  A team of event staff help turn event ideas into real successes.   Various social and corporate groups have also hosted barefoot bowling events at the club, which have been enjoyed by everybody!  You don’t have to have any real athletic ability (although of course it helps!) and of course, you can enjoy a beverage or two at the club bar.
Definitely worth a visit, you can find out more about this friendly club and all of the wonderful services on offer by visiting
