Bag yourself some treasure and further the recycling and reuse cause in Australia!

By Korgan Hucent

That’s right, and it’s all possible thanks to Garage Sale Trail which is happening right across this wonderful country on Saturday 22nd October!  Marketed as the country’s big day of GOOD STUFF, there will be over 10,000 garage sales happening around Australia on this special day, as part of Garage Sale Trail.

This is the sixth year Garage Sale Trail has been running, and it’s a free day, promoted by local councils across the nation.  It’s believed the event attracts in excess of 30,000 bargain shoppers, out to bag some serious treasure.

The event aims to encourage people to sell their unwanted stuff and encourage recycling amongst bargain hunters.  People can bring old goods back to life, finding new purposes for them in the form of exciting DIY projects.  Some people also get creative with their garage sales, providing barbeques, baked goods and sometimes, even fancy dress service!

An Aussie idea, Garage Sale Trail has also become a national event in the UK!

Right now according to the event website at www.garagesaletrail.com.au there are 23 garage sales registered for the event in Darwin, with more added to that list on a daily basis.  Currently there are 14,971 garage sales and stalls registered nationwide for the event, with more than 2 million items for sale, with a collective value of just over $12m!!

You can find out more about the sales in your local area or even register your own garage sale by visiting www.garagesaletrail.com.au!  Get onboard and snag a bargain, or perhaps offload some of your unwanted stuff for real hard cash!  It gets a big thumbs up from our team here at Ray White Bayside real estate, and just in time as well for cyclone season preparation!
