A game of bowls, darling?

By Korgan Hucent

Renovations at our local bowls club are finally complete! Two new greens have been constructed and one with a cover – just what we need to hide us from the Top End sun!

Darwin Bowls and Social Club is one of the Territory’s oldest bowls clubs, and it was even a survivor of Cyclone Tracy back in 1974! And having just gone under impressive renovations, it’s the perfect time to give it a go!

Despite what you may think, bowls really isn’t just for your Grandad – it’s so much fun with a group of friends! It’s a popular spot for the Ray White Bayside Real Estate Team, and it’s always great to kick the shoes off, enjoy a cold bevvy and try your luck with the barefoot version of the game!

Becoming increasingly popular with the Darwin locals, barefoot bowls takes place at the club every Thursday night from 5.45pm. Bookings are preferred to reserve your rink and it only costs $10 per person!

If bowls isn’t quite your thing, then you may fancy popping in for a cold drink or some food – now everybody is into that, right?! The club boasts a fully licenced bar and a bistro, which is open from Wednesday to Sunday nights, to service up some delicious bargain meals. The club also hosts great live music Friday and Sunday evenings and there’s even a quiz night kicking off Wednesdays from 6.30pm!

There’s so much going on at this fabulous local club so head down for an afternoon or evening of laughs! Visit the club website to see what’s happening each week, by checking out http://www.darwinbowlsclub.com.au/.
